ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 is the new 15″ gaming laptop from ASUS. As expected, it comes with the latest and greatest gaming hardware, so let’s talk about its design first. Zephyrus Duo is called so because it has two screens. Of course, this concept is not new, ASUS has already released two dual-screen laptops, in the form of a dual-screen ZenBook Pro Duo UX581 and ZenBook Duo UX481. But this is the first ASUS ROG gaming model.
You can choose from two options: a high-resolution 4K color display or an ultra-fast Full HD display.
The first option is a 4K IPS display that covers 100% of the Adobe RGB color space and is Pantone verified. Obviously, this display is aimed at creative professionals. For gamers, you can opt for an ultra-fast 300Hz Full HD display that supports G-Sync and a 3ms response time.
The second display, called the ROG ScreenPad Plus, measures 14.1 inches and has a resolution of 3840 x 1100 pixels and a decent 60Hz refresh rate. This is identical to the ZenBook Duo UX581. The reason for its high resolution is that if you choose a 4K display, you can drag windows from the primary display to the secondary display without any weird resizing issues.
The Zephyrus Duo 15 also features the recently announced 10th generation Comet Lake H-series processor. In addition to that, it has a new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super GPU. Here’s what the complete set will look like:
– Intel Core i9-10980HK
– NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2080 Super 8 GB GDDR6
– 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM (up to 48GB)
– 2 x 512 GB NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD in RAID 0
In addition, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 has what ASUS calls Active Aerodynamic System Plus. When the secondary display is raised, it reveals large 28.5mm air intakes that allow the laptop to draw cooler air over the laptop. ASUS says this improves airflow by 30% over previous Zephyrus designs.
In terms of ports, you have one USB-C port that supports Thunderbolt 3, other USB-A ports that also support USB 3.2 Gen 2, and two USB-A ports that support USB 3.2 Gen 1. There’s also an HDMI 2.0b port. , Gigabit Ethernet port and separate 3.5mm audio jacks for headphones and microphones.
